2008's chinese new year was of overnight mahjong and 10 hours' of undisturbed slumber. once, my relatives and myself started playing from 3 in the afternoon, and stopped only at 130 in the morning. i must say this. i have to let everybody know, (not like there's anybody who'll be reading this) - i did a 13 yao, though we filled in 4 extra tiles as jokers. i only had 6 13 yao tiles in the beginning and only god could explain why i actually tried. leaving that aside, it was my first chinese new year spent in singapore because most of my relatives from the paternal side (including my grandmother) are situated in malaysia. but because my dad was going to thailand, we had to return earlier than before.

in whatever circumstances, be it spent in malaysia or locally, i have never look forward to the coming of a chinese new year. what with all the red packets from all the married relatives, mine will always remain in malaysian currency, and if you flunk your pri 3 math (think that was the time everybody learns division) or have no idea what the exchange rates are, it is "divided by 2". if you're still unsure - the outcome of something divided by 2 is definitely something that is of a smaller portion. so like, i got like, wuurt, 60RM or something.? that's fuckin' cool huh.? dot com dot sg. open your mouth so wide you can devour a joey at one go, and laugh at me. everybody is so fond and hyped up about the various new year goodies, but haven't we realised.? they are ALL the same. and i mean all - the melon seeds, love letters, pineapple tarts, almond cookies (LHC like toe-er-lee (totally) owned all the goodies on my beautifully red-table-clothed corner table last night in the middle of a game of mahjong). the lack of chinese new year vibes have become so normal to me, if you offer a handshake and say, "gong xi fa cai" to me on the streets, i will reciprocate your goodwill with a very puzzled look.

after last night's mahjong, we all went back, slept, and i accompanied dex to put his tattoo, or in a less crude manner, his body art. he needed 5 more other body guards with him for the 3 or 4 hours' session.

so ladies and gentlemen, here, you see a half naked dex with a very chatty but friendly tattooist. i don't know why, but each time i take out my camera, everybody becomes so amazed by its sheer size instead of the quality of photos it can produce. so, after that we walked over to ikea, ate, and saw a very shy shufei. till then.
