take a look at the previous post. just when i thought it was over - that i wouldn't be able to watch my country play against a rival team, that i'd have to force myself to watch channel 5 on the smelly couch with a bag of chips with my mom who'll be asleep and snoring by the 15th minute of the game, that i'd have to disappoint my friends who are going that i won't be there because there weren't any more tickets left - i took the risk and iniative to travel all the way down to the kallang stadium at 130pm, when the sun rays were most generous and radiant with a friend. luckily, we were early and lucky enough to have gotten tickets, although they were sold since 9am in the early morning. and so, the journey begans.
kallang stadium in the afternoon - we then took a bus back to clementi, but was devastated to find out that it was towards the bedok side. we were chatting happily until the bus stopped at the terminal at bedok. we even identified jeanne's house when we passed marine parade, not knowing we were going the wrong direction. we took bus 7 back, and met the people at 5.
welcome to the black parade.
the long train ride -
when we reached, we spotted 2 malaysian fans, walking as if they were on malysian grounds -
it was packed, very very packed. i overheard 4 indian primary school kids saying, "they say no more tickets already," i was amused immensely and retorted mentally. even i, the vice monitor of E4/4, the one winston yap chose, the one so many people are fans of, made it a point to travel down to the kallang national stadium under the scorching hot sun to get tickets, why couldn't they, these puny little nothings, do the same and quit complaining.?
when it was still bright -
the singapore players came out for their warm-ups -
lionel lewis, singapore's keeper, and the one who went for arsenal for temporal trainings -
then, we made the stadium dirty by throwing the nut shells on the floor. how ironic - watching the country we love play, discriminating the opposing team, and littering the grounds we reside in -
and then, more pictures -
andrew, the pretty baby -
then more pictures -
then came the national anthem of both countries. it's almost golden - this is the only time you will hear diehard soccer school students sing their national anthem so proudly and loudly -
the police officials, during the national anthem -
then, some last minute team talk. the last get-together to create some "rah-rah" before the match begins -
and so, it did -
diehard hardcore mutt fans -
photographers lined up at the field's blockaway -
not all of the supporters are both hardcore and vulgar. there was this particular group of people, shorter than where my waist stands, screaming and shouting loudly, as if to intimidate the malaysians. they even took the time to fold the free nike posters, bearing the lion's logo, into paper aeroplanes to signify, "The Soaring Singapore," how cool -
the score ended in a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes. both teams moved on to extra time, but to no avail of making any changes to the scoreline. then, the penalty shootout (which singapore won), which was videotaped entirely, but i can't find a way to upload it into youtube because of its size.
we left, and made our way to clementi for supper. the crowd was crazy - they started chanting the infamous OLE! OLE! OLE! cry.
we were caught in the rain. luckily, daniel brought 2 umbrellas along with him.
then we had food at the same prata shop we had supper the last time we watch the match against indoneisia.
good match, good turnout, good outcome, good atmosphere, good food, good friends and a not so good weather keeps me happy in life -
